My first attempts date back to 1992 with a disposable camera waterproof to 5 meters, without flash. In 1994, diving in the wreck of St. Dominic in Marseille, I tried my first shots with a disposable camera (with a flash) which was locked in a plastic housing waterproof to 30 meters ... But my results were not very convincing ...
Things became more serious in 1995 in Corsica 20 years ago... At this time I was studing aquaculture and I needed to take underwater photos for my report. I would get some nice results using the daylight against the cages filled with seabasses and sea breams. A few weeks later in Ibiza I did other tests swimming behind a Wide-eyed flounder the tidal sand ... successful lunar atmosphere!
In 1996, stung by the virus I come back in strength: I bought my first housing from Marseille (purchased "au vieux plongeur"). It was a Nimar which I had to modify to fit a Nikon F70. I used a flash SB 103 which I held in my hand(not mounted). I made pretty pictures in the Lake of Annecy (shoal of perches, pikes, crayfishes) and also in Ibiza (moray eel, amberjacks, ect)
In 2000, Camilla, my first wife, impressed by the results from my housing tinkered bought me the amazing housing procase of SUBAL fully equipped with the Nikon F5. Then I started a crazy project: make a library of the underwater fauna and flora of Ibiza.
In 2002 I participated in my first and only photo contest to date:
I won a gold medal in swimming macro and a silver medal in the category wild angle without flash.
Very encouraging results, because I only having had a few tips from Marc Debatty (former world champion) during a stay at the club where I was worked. Unfortunetly in 2003, following the death of my wife Camilla, I put aside photography ...
In 2007, while I was working in the club IBIZA-DIVING, I met Sylvie came diving with his club "Le léo" from Amiens. My partner triggered the return of my passion for the underwater photography. I purchased a LUMIX FX-01 and it's housing. Using it during our first romantic holiday in Tenerife (Puerto de la Cruz), I realized with this little digital camera I could take stunning underwater photos
The following year we planned a cruise to the Red Sea with the "le Leo" club. The trip that took us from the wreck of Thislegorm to Raz Mohammed garden in southern Sinai.
2011: I purchased the D700 from NIKON, I found the F5 but in is digital version.
For financial reasons I should wait until 2012 to buy a second-hand housing SUBAL ND700 from the diving show in Paris.
Since I have been shooting with it, like the Maldives, Ibiza, Cap de Creus, Port Cros ...
In 2014, two of my photos were published on the website of the DORIS FFESSM and I made my first photography exhibition at the wildlife festival at the city of Albert (80).
The future belongs to us! ...
